Apple Watch may soon come with power AI features with built-in camera
According to earlier rumors, Apple is allegedly working on a built -in camera for the Apple Watch. According to the latest reports, this camera will power AI facilities on smartwatch.
Listen to the story

According to the latest newspaper by Mark Gurman published in Bloomberg, Apple is allegedly developing an Apple watch with cameras inherently developed as part of its broad push to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) more deeply into its hardware. Apple is clearly targeting the release of 2027 for Apple Watch.
Gurman’s reports that Apple is actively searching for ways to embed cameras in both its standard chain model and rugged ultra line. For the standard series, the camera can be placed within the display, similar to the front-facing camera on the iPhone. However, for the ultra model, Apple is asked to test a design, where the camera is posted near the digital crown and side button – a place that provides more space and can make the device easy to target the device for a scanning object. The thickness of two watches also vary greatly to enable various camera placements.
Apart from the cameras, Apple will work closely with Intelligence, which was launched with iOS 18.1 last October. Apple Intelligence includes equipment such as visual intelligence that are designed to use your camera to identify goods and sites in the environment and provide relevant information. By viewing the ability to “see” its environment, Apple can significantly improve the functionality of these AI features, allowing users to interact with their environment in new ways.
Apple has not officially commented on the report.
Rumors about Apple Watch Sporting are not new cameras. In fact, one of the first reports that leaked about an Apple Watch with a built -in camera, returned in 2015. At that time, Apple was worked on integrating the camera in the second generation of the clock. Obviously this was not true, but a lot of that rumor aligns with Mark Gurman’s latest report. The 2015 report suggested that Apple Watch would integrate a facetime camera on top bezel. At that time, AI on the equipment was still a far-off dream, so it was believed that the camera would be used to keep video calls and receive.
Beyond Apple Watch
Apple is also allegedly working to expand its AI ecosystem in other devices. Gurman had earlier reported in December that Apple is developing airpods with infrared cameras, potentially being launched by 2026. These sensors can allow for facilities such as identification of hand gestures and facilities such as environmental awareness, especially when the Apple Vision is paired with equipment such as Pro headsets.
Apple’s move to bring AI hardware to Apple Watch and AirPods is part of a comprehensive ambition to reduce dependence on external AI services such as chatgpt of Openai and AI model of Google. The company allegedly planned to create its owned AI Tools – such as visual intelligence platforms – which he sees as the central for the next generation of its equipment.
According to Gurman, Apple aims to integrate visual intelligence in its product range, making it a main part of future Apple watches, airpods and other devices. However, a lot of AI depends on the progression of AI Division of Apple, which is currently undergoing internal restructuring after the recent leadership shake-up.
But if things remain on the track, rumor apples with built-in camera and an airpod with a camera are considered to be a hit in the market by 2027.
