- McBook is expected to come in 2026
We can soon get a Macbook with an iPhone chip. If reports are to be believed, Apple is currently working on a new addition to its MacBook lineup: a more economical model that operates instead of its traditional M-series chips by the iPhone’s A-Series silicon. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company is planning to start mass production of its new, budget-friendly MacBook in the end of 2025 or early 2026.
In its latest post on X, Kuo revealed that the cheap MacBook would use A18 Pro Chip – the same chip that power the iPhone 16 Pro series. It also expects a 13 -inch display and can be introduced in several cassing colors, including silver, blue, pink and yellow. “With a performance of approximately 13-inch, with a performance of about 13-inch, 4Q25 or early days of 1Q26 are expected to enter the production on a large scale and operated by the A18 Pro processor. Potential casing colors include silver, blue, pink and yellow,” he writes on X (East Twitter).
Kuo also estimates that Apple will ship between 5-7 million units of the new MacBook with the A18 Pro chip in 2026. In 2025, the sale of MacBook is estimated to reach approximately 20 million units. “Apple aims to return the total MacBook shipment at the Covid-19 summit of about 25 million units (versus 20 million units in vs 2025) in 2026.”
MacBook more cheaper than Air
Currently, Apple’s entry-level notebook is PC MacBook Air, priced at Rs 99,900. However, rumor MacBook with A-Series chip is expected to fall below that price point, although Kuo’s report does not specify how cheap it will be.
A18 Pro Chip in iPhone 16 Pro
Meanwhile, Apple has not yet indicated the possibility of an affordable MacBook or Mac with the A18 Pro chip. However, it is possible that the company is targeting a new foldable MacBook-e-series chip similar to reaching the market segment. This will also first mark when the MacBook has an A-series chip instead of the Mac-specific M-series, which began with M1 in 2020 and now gives strength to all current MACs.
He said, the A18 Pro chip is not dull. Apple introduced the A18 Pro last year with the iPhone 16 Pro series. The company called this chip “brain behind Apple Intelligence”, which exposes its significant CPU and GPU, a 16-core nerve engine and 2x sharp ray-unurefolk abilities than the A17 Pro chip.
Apple has highlighted that the nerve engine of the A18 Pro, in particular, is designed to accelerate the on-device machine learning functions, which is well suited to the growing focus on AI-operated features of Apple. Therefore, with the A18 Pro chip in a Mac, we can see an inexpensive Macbook that also provides access to Apple Intelligence features.
