Apple officially confirmed that iOS 18.4 and iPados will be rolled out in April 18.4, bringing a group of new features and updates to iPhone and iPad users. While the first beta of the update is already available for developers and public testers, the final release promises to introduce some notable additions, including a new section and improving information and music for food lovers. One of the standout features in iOS 18.4 is the introduction of Apple News+ Food, a dedicated section within the Apple News app.

Apple News+ Food is specifically designed for apple news+ customers and provides access to thousands of dishes from top food publishers like Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, and Allrage. But it is not only about dishes – the section also includes stories about restaurants, healthy food suggestions, kitchen mandatory and more. Apple has made it easy to browse, search and filter with a visually attractive format, which highlights materials and step-by-step instructions. Even there is a new cook mode that takes the dishes to the full screen, making it easier to follow during cooking. Users can also save their favorite dishes for offline access.

Another important addition in iOS 18.4 is the preference notification feature, which uses Apple Intelligence to automatically identify and create a surface on your lock screen. This feature, however, is limited to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 series.

Music lovers will also appreciate the new environment music facility in the control center. It quickly lets you play a curated selection of songs in four categories: sleep, cold, productivity and good.

For users in the European Union, the iOS brings the ability to set the default app for 18.4 maps and translations. This means that you can now choose Google Map or any other favorite app as your default navigation tool.

The iOS 18.4 update also expands Apple Intelligence Support in more languages including French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese (simplified). Additionally, the image playground feature has a new sketch drawing style, which is included in existing animation and Illustration styles. This device allows users to generate images based on text details, powered by apple intellation.

The iOS 18.4 update is also expected to include a new batch of emoji, with the tradition of Apple to connect new characters with each major update. While the complete list has not been confirmed, last year’s Unicode Consortium Preview indicated on options such as a face, a veena, and a face with a shovel.

Finally, Apple planned to introduce a vision Pro app for iPhone users later in the update cycle. This app will serve as a hub to download apps for vision Pro users, search for Apple TV content and reach useful tips about their devices.
