Last week, Apple unveiled a range of Mac products, including a MacBook Pro with an M4 chip. As expected, the new MacBook Pro 14 is powered by the M4 chipset, although variants powered by the M4 Pro are also available. The company is now equipping the base variant with 16GB RAM. The MacBook Pro 14 price in India starts at Rs 1,69,900 and the MacBook Pro 16 with M4 Pro chipset starts at Rs 2,49,900. But after a few days, speculations regarding the next-in-line MacBook Pro have intensified. In recent rumors, Apple is considering bringing major changes to the 2026 MacBook Pro.

The first anticipated upgrade is an OLED display. While earlier reports had speculated that MacBook Pro models could adopt OLED technology by 2026. Additionally, analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young also recently predicted that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will likely stick with Mini-LED displays by 2025.

Switching from mini-LED to OLED displays will bring a number of benefits, including greater brightness, higher contrast ratios with deeper blacks and grays, better power efficiency for extended battery life and potentially a thinner design for future MacBook Pro models. Design included.

The second expected change is a slimmer design. Earlier this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is actively working on making the MacBook Pro thinner “in the next few years.” According to Gurman, Apple’s goal is to achieve products that are “the thinnest and lightest” in their class in the tech industry. There has been no change in the design of the recently launched MacBook Pro laptop.

A brighter, more vibrant OLED display paired with a significantly thinner design could offer a compelling upgrade, potentially encouraging existing MacBook Pro users with Apple Silicon models to consider upgrading.

Apart from a more powerful chipset, there are not many changes in the MacBook Pro 2024. However, one big upgrade is the RAM over the base variant. The M4 laptop comes with a minimum of 16GB RAM while the M4 Pro and M4 Max variants come with 24GB RAM.

The MacBook Pro also gets a nano-texture display option, which is also something new for an Apple laptop as till now we have only seen this option on its external displays. Another upgrade is the built-in USB-C port. They now support Thunderbolt 5, which enables transfer speeds of up to 120GB/s.

As it launches the new MacBooks, Apple is also highlighting Apple Intelligence features, which are powered by a combination of generative AI systems like ChatGPT and Apple’s own in-house LLM. Apple Intelligence is part of macOS Sequoia 15.1, although users in different countries and different regions may not get all AI features at the same time. The Apple Intelligence Suite is a work in progress.
