Apple may fix iPhone overheating problem in iPhone 16
Apple is expected to address the iPhone overheating issue with the upcoming iPhone 16 series. The new iPhones are rumoured to feature significant design and performance upgrades, including improved battery life and advanced camera capabilities.
This year, Apple will introduce its iPhone 16 series. The new generation iPhones are said to come with several upgrades over their previous models. There are rumours of bigger displays, better batteries, powerful cameras, and more. Adding to the series of speculations, a recent report suggests that Apple will fix the overheating issue with the new iPhone 16.
There have been reports of overheating in the iPhone 15 series since its launch. Although Apple tried to fix the issue and promised to improve thermal management through software updates. However, many users still report that their iPhone 15 devices get very hot. According to a recent leak by Majin Bu on X (formerly known as Twitter), Apple will now completely fix the overheating issue with the iPhone 16.
According to the leak, the iPhone 16 will feature a battery with the same shape and size as the iPhone 15. However, there will be one change: a metal casing. Most smartphone batteries are typically wrapped in black foil, which does little to dissipate heat. However, a metal casing could theoretically help manage heat more effectively, potentially preventing the device from overheating.
The leak suggests that the iPhone 16 will have a battery capacity of 3,597mAh, which is slightly larger than the 3,367mAh battery on the iPhone 15. This increase will allow the iPhone 16 to control overheating and improve battery life compared to the iPhone 15.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 lineup is expected to include multiple models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple’s iPhone 16 series is expected to launch in September, continuing the company’s tradition of annual fall releases. Although an official launch date hasn’t been confirmed, rumours and leaks about the new models have already started to spread. Excitement is growing around Apple’s upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10, where new software including iOS 18 will be unveiled along with information on AI integration.
The iPhone 16 series is rumoured to feature several significant design changes, such as capacitive, touch-sensitive buttons that provide haptic feedback, powered by Apple’s Taptic Engine. Additionally, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to feature a vertical camera arrangement in a pill-shaped module, supporting both wide and ultrawide lenses and possibly spatial video recording. A new capture button and action button for video recording, previously exclusive to the Pro models, could become standard features across all variants. The display is also expected to see improvements, with bigger screens and thinner bezels for the Pro models, while the standard models could get a 120Hz refresh rate.
In terms of performance, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are likely to feature the A18 SoC, while the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max could feature a more advanced A18 Pro chip with better heat dissipation technology. Battery life is expected to be improved, with the iPhone 16 rumoured to feature a 3,561mAh battery and the iPhone 16 Plus rumoured to feature a 4,006mAh unit. The Pro Max model is expected to include a 4,676mAh battery. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is also rumoured to have a super telephoto periscope camera with advanced optical zoom capabilities, while the Pro model could include a 48-megapixel ultra wide lens for better low-light performance and detailed shots.
