Apple looks set for a busy launch schedule for 2026. There has been news about foldable iPhones, iPad mini featuring OLED displays, some notable upgrades for the iPhone 18 Pro models, and now, it appears that the Cupertino giant may bring back a Pro iMac.

Apple may launch iMac with M5 Max chipset

According to MacRumors, Apple may be planning to re-enter the high-performance desktop market with a new iMac model featuring the yet-to-be-announced M5 Max chip. The report cites internal kernel debug kit files leaked to Apple engineers. These files indicate that Apple is actively testing an iMac codenamed J833c, reportedly running on the M5 Max chipset. If accurate, the move could mark Apple’s return to the professional all-in-one desktop segment, which the company exited in 2021 when it discontinued the iMac Pro.

An iMac with the M5 Max chipset would potentially bring Mac Studio performance levels into one complete package. The 2024 Mac Studio, equipped with the M4 Max’s 16-core CPU and 40-core GPU, has set a strong benchmark for Apple’s in-house silicon, and the M5 Max iMac is rumored to potentially provide a further boost. The device will be targeted at professionals compared to the standard iMac, which is available for home users.

At the moment, there is very little information available about the pricing of this rumored device. The original iMac Pro, launched in 2017, had a starting price of Rs 4,15,000 in India.

Apple may launch new Studio Display in 2026

Apart from the Pro iMac, Apple may also be working on a new Studio display for 2026. According to reports, the next generation Studio display may get a mini-LED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it may be powered by the A19 Pro chipset of the iPhone 17 Pro models instead of the current generation A13 Bionic.

The price of the next generation studio display is not yet clear. The current Studio Display was launched in India for Rs 1,59,900.
