Apple is allegedly working on a new i-scrolling feature for its vision pro headset, which will allow users to navigate the interface only. As BloombergCurrently this feature is being tested as part of Visionos 3, which is expected to be the next major software update to the mixed reality device. For those who do not know, the vision Pro already has existing eye-tracking capabilities, which allow users to see elements in the UI and choose with a simple pinch gesture. But with I-scrolling, Apple is taking one step forward one step forward, which in the lesser theory-should bring more natural and spontaneous experiences for your users.
The new i-scrolling facility is expected to work in all built-in vision pro apps of Apple, and Apple is also said to be designing equipment for third-party developers to integrate it in their own software. While there is no official term from the company yet, Visionos 3 is likely to be unveiled at Apple’s WWDC’25 event starting from 9 June next month.
Personally, I have never used the Apple Vision Pro – only saw it briefly when I went to Spain for MWC 2023 – but I often follow its development closely, as it is a kind of gadget. For this new I-scrolling feature, it seems promising, and also shows that Apple, despite not having a fugitive professional success, is still actively working on the stage to make it more compelling.
You can see, the ability to be able to scroll with your eyes can interact with more fluid with apps and reduce dependence on gestures or physical controllers. Currently, scrolling is performed by pinching and pulling in mid-hwa, which can be comfortable, but can also be tired or intake over time. An option that allows you to do all that you can only change your eyes by scrolling – imagine to read an article or browse a menu by just shifting your gaze.
The Bloomberg report also mentions that this development recently follows the shake-up within Apple’s Vision Pro team. The group now sits under a new joint head and visionos software division.
In addition, Apple is also asked to work on extensive access features for visionos, such as zooming into real -world items using a headset camera and describing the surroundings through a revived voiceover.
While Samsung once tried to walk on the eyes in the smartphone-remember the good OL ‘Galaxy S4-it was not far away. But given that we are talking about Apple here, and the vision Pro is a kind of gadget that claims these advanced sensors and a spatial computing interface, all this can just work – provided, execution is correct.
We will learn more about this when WWDC’ is closed in 25 June. Stay for India for today’s technology.
