Apple is set to launch its first foldable iPhone in the second half of 2026. However, it seems that the American giant is already working on a different foldable iPhone. Instead of a unique book-style form factor of the rumored iPhone Fold, this new device may have a more traditional approach, as we’ve seen from Samsung for its Galaxy Z Flip series.

Apple is working on a new flip iPhone
According to Bloomberg, Apple is preparing a clamshell foldable iPhone. The dimensions of this device will probably be similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. The report says that Apple is confident about its upcoming iPhone Fold and the company believes that it will create demand for more foldable iPhones.
Flip iPhone, what can you expect
The iPhone Fold is expected to be a unique device, smaller than something like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 or the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. However, the foldable iPhone Flip will likely be similar to other clamshell devices.
Although details are sparse, we can get an idea from other clamshell devices on the market, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7. When folded, the Z Flip 7 has a 4.1-inch external display. When unfolded, you get a 6.9-inch display, which is roughly what you’d expect from a traditional slab smartphone.
