Apple is rumoured to launch a new iPhone 17 Slim next year and it could replace the existing Plus model
Apple is rumored to introduce the iPhone 17 Slim in 2025, which will focus on a sleek and stylish design.

Slim and powerful is becoming the new slogan of smartphone manufacturers. Companies are focusing more on design to make the device slimmer, stylish, with bigger displays as well as feature-rich. It seems that Apple is also ready to get into this trend. While the company plans to launch the iPhone 16 series this year, rumours suggest that next year, Apple is planning to introduce a new ultra-thin model, the iPhone 17, in its lineup. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new model called the iPhone 17 Slim is likely to launch in the second half of 2025.
According to Kuo, the new iPhone 17 Slim is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display with a resolution of around 2,740 x 1,260 pixels, delivering crisp and vibrant visuals. Unlike its predecessors, this model is said to focus on aesthetics and physical appeal over powerful hardware specifications. The ultra-slim form factor is likely to be a major selling point, attracting consumers who prefer sleek and stylish devices.
The upcoming iPhone 17 Slim is speculated to embody Apple’s vision of creating a “single slab of glass” smartphone. This concept includes reducing the visible bezels, integrating the Face ID module beneath the display, and potentially reducing or eliminating the Dynamic Island area.
For the body, Apple is tipped to use a titanium-aluminum alloy frame, ditching the bulky titanium frame used in the current Pro and Pro Max models. While aesthetics will be the top priority, the iPhone 17 Slim will not compromise on power and is said to be powered by Apple’s A19 chip, with the higher-end variants likely featuring the A19 Pro chip. Additionally, the device will feature Apple’s in-house 5G chip, which will ensure robust connectivity and better network performance.
Another notable change in the iPhone 17 Slim is reported to be in its camera setup. The device is rumoured to have a single rear wide camera, which is a significant change from the multiple cameras seen in the current model.
Are you replacing the iPhone Plus model?
Earlier, there were rumours that Apple would introduce the new iPhone 17 Slim as the top-end model. However, recent reports suggest that it will be less powerful than the Pro model and will likely replace the Plus model. In one of his reports, Jeff Pu suggested that the iPhone 17 Slim will actually replace the Plus model. However, another report from The Information suggested that this new model will be an ultra-high-end model, priced higher than the Pro Max. According to sources, the report indicated that the new model, internally code-named D23, represents a major redesign similar to the iPhone X, which Apple marketed as a technological leap from previous generations.
However, another report according to 9to5Mac suggests that the Slim will have lower specs than the two Pro models, and just yesterday Kuo suggested it may only have a single rear camera, so the model is very unlikely to be comparable to the Pro and could replace the Plus model or come as a new affordable model. But everything is speculation, and nothing has been confirmed by Apple.
