Apple has urged millions of its users to update their equipment after severe security weaknesses in iPhones and iPads. The California -based company urged its users to download the latest iOS patch, which, one month after releasing the previous update, highlights the gravity of the situation.

While Apple does not disclose or confirm safety issues until an inquiry has been done, a vulnerability called CVE-2025-24201, identified within the webkit-is considered to be the reason behind the patch rollouts, the browser engine and all other internet browser made for iPhone or iPad.

Apple said in a statement, “The web material web content designed may be able to get out of the web content sandbox. It is a supplementary fix for an attack that was blocked in iOS 17.2,” Apple said in a statement.

The hackers were using the defect, creating a malicious website for an open door, which will provide them access to other smartphone areas outside the victim’s web browser after one of these Phony pages.

While the patch fixes vulnerability, it added another bug. According to a report in ForbesAfter the update, the users are seeing that Apple Intellith is active on its phone, even if they have already deactivated it.

Previous example

This is not the first example in recent weeks that Apple has urged its customers to update their equipment for fear of safety violations. In February, Apple stated that it was targeted by “extremely sophisticated” attacks, where the USB restricted mode could be disabled on a lock device.

The iPhone manufacturer said, “Apple knows about a report that the issue may have been exploited in a highly sophisticated attack against specific target persons.”

In particular, Apple’s restricted mode is a safety feature added about seven years ago in iOS 11.4.1 and includes all subsequent versions of iOS. This prevents the locked devices from leaking data from any goods associated with USB-C or Lightning Port.
