Apple Intelligence is being released today: Writing tools, clean up, new Siri UI and more are coming

Apple Intelligence, introduced during WWDC 2024, is expected to launch with the iOS 18.1 upgrade today. The upcoming features are coming to a limited number of iPhones, including the iPhone 15 Pro models and the iPhone 16 series. Last week, Apple confirmed that the company is aiming big for this week. Apple’s Grek Joswiak posted an X saying, “Mac your calendars!”, hinting at several new announcements to come. Earlier, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman predicted that iPhone users will get iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence on October 28. Reports suggest that the new iOS 18.1 will be launched in India today at 10:30 PM.

Apple Intelligence: The first roll out is coming

According to reports, this week will see the first rollout of Apple Intelligence features. This means that some, if not all, select features will be coming to iPhones today. And others will be extended till 2025. Here are some of the features expected to arrive today.

Writing Instruments: Of course, a writing tool with Apple Intelligence is a must. It will proofread texts for spelling and grammar errors, including word choice and sentence structure. It will rewrite what you’ve written to clear it up and change the tone without affecting your content. Options include friendly, professional, and concise.

Photo app will also get a boost: With just a simple description — like “my cat in 2024” or “Orlando in the summer” — you can create a memory movie. This feature will automatically select matching photos and background music, but you can further customize it by using Memory Mix or setting a mood to shape the audio. Also, when you are creating the prompt, you have the option to add specific scenes and images that you want to display in the memory.

Cleaning Tools: A new Clean Up tool will allow you to use AI to select unwanted elements in the image and remove them without affecting the main subject. Android users should be aware of a similar tool called Magic Eraser. Yep, exactly that in the Apple verse.

New Siri UI: Apple is revamping Siri from top to bottom. Although other features may not come in this update, a new UI will arrive this month. In the new UI, Siri is not limited to lighting up just one area, it will illuminate all the edges. Other elements that will actually use Apple Intelligence will come a little later.

Priority Notification: Apple Intelligence will be able to analyze your iPhone notifications and prioritize the most important notifications, which will appear at the top in a new Priority Notifications section. Long information or groups of multiple information will also be summarized. The feature will also integrate with Focus Mode, reducing interruptions by ensuring that only important and relevant notifications will be delivered.

But Indians may have to wait longer

Apple’s new Apple Intelligence feature, which brings advanced AI capabilities to iOS devices, is expected to launch in India in 2025. Initially, the system will support Indian English and will be part of the update to iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 on compatible devices. , This release will follow the US English version, scheduled for late 2024.

Although there is currently no set date for localized language options beyond Indian English, Apple has indicated that broader language support will be phased in over time. This release is expected to bring features like updated Siri, on-device AI tools, and multimedia editing functions to users in India, enhancing the experience with new contextual and personalization options.
