Apple has continued its top pace in the Indian smartphone market, showing new data that the company has sent 5.9 million (59 lakh) iPhones in the first half of 2025, which is an increase of 21.5 percent of YOY (YOY). According to a report by International Data Corporation (IDC)The iPhone 16 was the highest sent smartphone model in the country during this period, accounting for 4 percent of all smartphones sent to India. This is a major achievement in a market like India, where people are value-sensitive, highlighting the increasing appetite for premium equipment. Apple had a strong performance amidst overall recovery in India’s smartphone market, which increased by 0.9 percent yoy in H1 2025 after two slow quarters.
IDC The report shows that India’s smartphone market sent 70 million units in the first quarter of 2025, contributed 37 million in the April to June quarter – a jump of 7.3 percent compared to the same period last year. Development was supported by new launch in all value limitations, price deduction on older models, better offline retail margins and more aggressive marketing campaigns.
In the premium smartphone space, Apple maintained its position, made for 600 to $ 800 (about Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000) with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 for 60 percent shipment in brackets. Ultra-Pramium Space-up-$ 800 (more than Rs 70,000) also saw a healthy growth of 15.8 percent. However, Samsung provoked Apple narrowly for the top position in the category, with 49 percent market share compared to 48 percent of Apple. The popular models in this segment include Apple’s iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The report said that the average selling price of smartphones in India reached $ 275 (about Rs 24,000) in Q2 2025, which was 10.8 percent from the previous year. This trend towards high -priced models has benefited brands such as Apple, but is making budget equipment less accessible for some consumers.
Outside the Apple realm, Vivo maintained its position as the number one smartphone brand in India for the sixth quarter in a line, which thanks to a balanced product portfolio and a strong offline appearance at price points. Samsung finished second with 21 percent yoy development operated by AI features in its mid-range Galaxy A, M, and F series. Oppo came in third place, with the launch of inexpensive models such as the K13 and A5X, increased with focus on later sales service.
Emerging brands also had a strong quarter. Nothing recorded the highest yoy growth at 84.9 percent, followed by IQO 68.4 percent. Meanwhile, Xiaomi dominated the sub-$ 100 (less than Rs 10,000) segment with its Redmi A4 and A5 models.
IDC 2025 is expected to end with a slight decline in overall smartphone shipments due to increasing ASP and silent demand in the budget segment. However, Apple’s double -digit growth in India suggests that the demand for premium remains flexible, especially for key models such as the iPhone 16, which has managed to secure a rare space as the country’s most sent phones.
