Apple GPT-5 to update iOS 26, iPados 26, and Macos Tahoe 26 in September: Report: Report
Apple is allegedly planning to release iOS 26, iPados 26, and Macos Tahoe 26 next month with iPhone 17. These updates will introduce GPT-5 integration in Apple Intelligence for more capable features in Apple devices.

In short
- Openai has introduced its most capable AI model, GPT 5
- Apple is allegedly planning to switch from GPT-5 to GPT-5 to its equipment from GPT-4O model
- GPT-5 is asked to maintain the same apple’s privacy standards on equipment
Apple is currently publicly testing its new software repetitions, including iOS 26, iPados 26, and Macos Tahoe 26. The final version of these software updates is expected to come next month after the launch of the iPhone 17 series. Now, according to a new report, Apple may also start integrating Openai’s latest GPT-5 models in Apple Intelligence with the final release of iOS 26, iPados 26, and Macos Tahoe 26.
Openai launched GPT-5 last night, which improved logic, coding support, voice interactions and video understanding. According to 9to5MAC, Apple is planning to integrate GPT-5 to handle complex or comprehensive functions that cannot manage its on-device models. Therefore the company will shift from the current GPT-4O model and it is expected that Siri and other Apple services will increase to react to advanced user requests.
Currently, Apple uses GPT-4o in a limited way in intelligent equipment supported equipment. When enabled by the user, Chatgpt can assist in tasks such as summarizing documents, composing messages, answering questions through Siri and identifying goods using cameras.
The report states that the integration of GPT-5 will follow the same privacy security that the Apple currently provides. IP addresses will be hidden in the requests rooted through Chatgpt and will not be stored by Openai. Users who choose to link their Openai accounts from Apple Intelligence will get access to additional features, but Openai’s data policies will apply in those cases.
Meanwhile, with flagship GPT -5, OpenI has also announced two open -weight large language models, including a customized to walk on apple silicon Mac. While Apple has not officially confirmed support for these models, the release indicates the possibility of apple devices that bring offline AI functionality in future.
With access to Openai’s most powerful model, the September release of Apple’s software update will also introduce several new Apple Intelligence features. One of them is live translation, which allows real -time language translation in facetime, message and phone calls. Another feature is visual intelligence, which helps users to identify and interact with on-screen materials in apps and services.
IOS 26, iPados 26, and Macos Tahoe are expected to come up with the iPhone 17 launch on 26 September. Once available, the supported Apple device will start using GPT-5 for specific apple intelligence tasks. However, this access will be available only to users who will manually reach their iPhones to Chatgpt.
