Apple is currently focusing on the global rollout of its Vision Pro. The Cupertino giant has already launched its VR headset in several countries including the US, UK, China, Japan, and others, with Taiwan being the next destination. The headset will be available in Taiwan starting Tuesday, December 17, with pre-orders starting Thursday, December 5 at 9am ET.
Ahead of the launch, Apple has updated its website for the region with detailed product information, pricing and customization options, such as storage capacity and ZEISS optical inserts for vision correction. Additionally, Apple’s two retail stores in Taipei will offer 30-minute demo sessions to help potential buyers experience the device’s features first-hand. As MacRumors reports, specific details about these demo sessions will be shared once pre-orders begin. Although this marks availability in more countries, India is not included in the list of global launches yet.
Since its launch in the United States in February 2024, Apple has continuously expanded the availability of the Vision Pro in various international markets. The headset became available in countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore in June and July. South Korea and the United Arab Emirates were the most recent additions before Taiwan.
Despite it being one of Apple’s key growth areas, there has been no announcement about if or when the Vision Pro will launch in India. According to speculation, the higher price of the Vision Pro – $3,499 in the US – and the premium cost for mixed-reality devices and niche audiences may be contributing factors. Analysts estimate that when the headset finally arrives in India, it will have a premium price, potentially close to Rs 3 lakh. This steep cost could pose challenges to mass-market adoption, even among Apple’s loyal customer base.
While the rollout of the Vision Pro continues—there is no possibility of an India launch—Apple is reportedly already working on the next generation of its mixed-reality headset. The second-generation Vision Pro is expected to launch between late 2025 and early 2026, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo report. The successor is likely to feature incremental design updates, such as a focus on interior enhancements. Integration of the more advanced M5 chip. This chip, expected to launch with new iPad Pro and Mac models in 2025, could deliver significant performance improvements.
Industry rumors suggest that Apple may be reevaluating its broader Vision product line. It seems that plans for a low-cost Vision Pro model have been shelved. Instead, Apple may introduce a device designed as an accessory for iPhones. This streamlined product may feature a display and battery that will be measured by a paired iPhone. Such an approach would reduce costs and make the mixed-reality space more accessible to a wider audience.
