Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed the opening of 4 new Apple Stores in India, as he announced the company’s record-breaking revenue for the third quarter of 2024. Currently, Apple has only two official stores in India, one at BKC Mumbai and the other at DLF Saket in New Delhi. “We also opened two new stores during the quarter, and we can’t wait to bring four new stores to customers in India,” the Apple CEO said during Apple’s latest earnings call. CEO Tim Cook reported that iPhone sales increased in all regions, setting a global record. India, in particular, saw notable growth, with Apple reaching its highest-ever revenue in the country.

“iPhone grew in every geographic segment, setting a new September quarter revenue record for the category, and Services set an all-time revenue record with 12 percent year-over-year growth. We also set September quarter segment revenue records in a large number of countries including the United States, Brazil, Mexico, France, UK, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, along with the Americas, Europe and Rest of Asia Pacific. , Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and we are encouraged by the enthusiasm we are seeing in India, where we set an all-time revenue record,” Cook said.

Apple’s iPad revenues also saw a jump in the quarter, including in the Indian market. “iPad generated $7 billion in revenue, up 8 percent year-over-year. In addition to growth in developed markets, we also saw strong performance in several emerging markets, with double-digit growth in Mexico, Brazil, the Middle East, India and South Asia,” said Luca Maestri, Apple senior vice president and CFO. ,

News of Apple planning to open more stores in India is not new. There were earlier reports speculating that Apple was working on opening more official Apple Stores in India. While Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that four new stores will open in India, their locations have not been confirmed yet. However, reports suggest that new stores may open in Bengaluru, Pune and the Delhi-NCR region as well as another store in Mumbai. This would mean that, there will eventually be two official Apple stores in Delhi and Mumbai, and if the reports are true, new ones will be opened in Bengaluru and Pune.

According to Counterpoint Research, Apple now claims 22 per cent share of India’s smartphone market by value and is behind only Samsung. The recent launch of iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 ahead of the festive season has further strengthened Apple’s market position. Globally, Apple reported revenue of $94.9 billion in the September quarter, marking a 6 percent year-on-year increase, with iPhone revenue alone up 6 percent. Looking ahead, Apple expects single-digit growth, driven by the gradual rollout of new AI features across its product lineup.
