Anurag Kashyap says his daughter scolded him for liking ‘Animal’: She didn’t like the film at all
Anurag Kashyap has been vocal in his support for Sandeep Reddy Vanga, especially when ‘Animal’ released. In a recent interview, Anurag revealed that his move led to him facing severe criticism from his daughter and friends from the film fraternity.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has openly supported ‘Animal’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. In an interview with Janice Sequeira, Anurag revealed that his friends and family, including his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap, criticised him for his views on Animal and his photo with Sandeep.
Anurag said that Alia did not like ‘Animal’ and her friends questioned him about his support. He said, “My daughter (Alia Kashyap) called me out. She hated ‘Animal’. On my post (picture with Sandeep), my friends called me out. They all came home and asked me 10,000 questions. And I was like, Leave everything else aside, what is the name of the movie? (Leave everything else, what is the name of the film?) Animal. It is not called ‘Human’. Why did the film become difficult?
Anurag pointed out that Ranbir Kapoor took on a challenging role in Animal and played it with total conviction. He elaborated, “Because everyone’s favourite Ranbir Kapoor took on this role. And he played it with total conviction. He decided to play the character rather than being politically correct or diplomatically correct or right for a certain section. He tried his best to play a person who is problematic in every way.”
He defended Sandip, saying he prefers working with honest people, even if they are complex, rather than people who are pretentious. The ‘Dev D’ director said, “I know a lot of people in this industry and this world who, from the outside, you think they are perfect. But they are not, they are pretending. A lot of people who call themselves feminists, 50% of them are pretending. I know a lot of people who have written stories, breaking stories, they are very complex.”

Anurag also added, “I have messages from them which are very complex. I would love to deal with a complex but honest person. Whoever they are, you don’t have to doubt yourself. People love to attack such individuals. I have been attacked too.”
On the professional front, Anurag Kashyap was last seen as the antagonist in Vijay Sethupathi-led ‘Maharaja’.
The director will next be seen as the villain in the Disney+ Hotstar series ‘Bad Cop’ and is gearing up for the release of his directorial ‘Kennedy’ starring Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat.
