Anurag Kashyap has never been one to mimic words, and we saw the same when we talked to her about the new-age marketing hack. From the employed leaks to the clickbait headlines, everything, everything, he says, has given birth to a growing disillusionment. Today, in a special chat with India, the filmmaker shared how it is all distanceting him from the industry.

“I don’t know. I am telling you,” Anurag started, his voice was a mixture of despair and resignation. “If I interview, I see the headlines of the clickbait, and it bothers me a lot. Because they make a perception of you that people start believing. It takes a new meaning.

For a filmmaker known for his honesty, this atmosphere suffocated, which led to his back. He also mentioned how people started escaping from him. “There is no point in talking, and that’s why I went away. It was feeling rapidly separate here. Because after a point, people do not want to see with you, even with my own people. Those who have worked with me did not want to see with me.”

When told how difficult it was, Kashyap was not far from the truth. “I passed through the entire stage where I could not be honest with my friends. I lost friends. I lost people. There was no other conversation about cinema, only money, talks about box office days. I didn’t want to be a part of it.”

Recently, his good friend Manoj Bajpayee mentioned in an interview how filmmakers used to get angry very easily and even hands and glasses were broken. Asked what the angels he had today, Kaship smiled and said, “Honestly, I am trying to get away from everything that angry and learns how to block it. Because I really love. The spectrum, and I will go away from all that.”

And what makes him happy, we asked? “For me, these are just homes, books and movies,” Kashyap concluded.

Anurag Kashyap’s latest release ‘Nishchi’ hit theaters on 19 September.
