Anubhav Sinha on Ra.One 2 expectations and Shahrukh Khan’s availability: It’s a 3-year marriage
Describing this ambitious project, Anubhav Sinha expressed his desire to develop a sequel to Ra.One “Three years of marriage.” He mentioned that the future of the sequel depends on his own schedule and Shah Rukh Khan’s availability for a long-term commitment.

Director Anubhav Sinha reveals his plans to make a sequel Ra One (2011). He also expressed interest in checking out actor Shahrukh Khan’s dates for the film.
Sinha, in an interview with morning news Said, “ra one 2 Ka Yeh Hai Mera Bhi Bada Mann Hai Ra One 2 will take 2-3 years to make. That is a long marriage of 2-3 years. So let me be a little free. Then I think that I want to spend those three years in my life and at that time Khan Saheb is not available. Because all the mines are busy, one after the other, one after the other. (I also really want to make Ra.One 2. It will take two to three years to build; It’s like a two-three year long marriage. So, first let me free myself a little. Then, I will think about whether I want to dedicate those three years of my life to it and whether Khan saab (Shah Rukh Khan) is available at that time. Because Khan Saab is also busy with one project after another).“
In 2011, the film’s release was considered a big gamble. At a time when superhero stories were uncommon in the industry, the decision to merge high-tech visual effects with gaming culture and a family-oriented heart was a bold move.
The film was carried forward with an ambitious vision, fully supported by the unwavering commitment of the star. It sought to blend advanced VFX with traditional Indian sensibilities, offering a local superhero narrative driven by both technology and emotion.
Although the film did not reach the expected big box office figures, it achieved an enduring cultural niche. Its music and visual creativity still resonate today, often gaining new appreciation among a new generation of digital-native fans.
Sinha has recently directed AsiIn which actors Taapsee Pannu, Kani Kusruti, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Revati, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak and others are in lead roles.
India Today, in its review of the film, wrote, “You may end up debating the film’s craft, its choices, even its tone. What is hard to debate is the reality it points to. Because somewhere, every twenty minutes, another story begins or ends.”
