Anti-Israel protesters call "intifada revolution" on Times Square

Date:

Hundreds of anti-Israel protesters gathered in New York City’s Times Square on New Year’s Day on Wednesday and called for an “intifada revolution.” Attendees waved Palestinian flags and carried signs reading, “Zionism is cancer,” “No war on Iran,” and “End all US aid to Israel.”

Coincidentally, the protest came just hours after a terrorist carried out a deadly car attack in the French Quarter of New Orleans, killing at least 15 people.

The protest was reportedly organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and the People’s Forum. According to a New York Post report, protesters chanted slogans – “There is only one solution: intifada revolution,” “Resistance is glorious – we will be victorious,” and “Gaza, you make us proud”.

In a video of the protest circulated on social media, a female protester wearing a keffiyeh can be heard saying, “We’re sending you back to Europe, white girls.”

“Go back to Europe! Go back to Europe,” she shouted at counter-protesters outside the event in the Big Apple.

Another speaker shouted through a megaphone, “2024 was the year of struggle against the crime of Zionism.”

On New Year’s Day, U.S. Army veteran Shamsud-Deen Jabbar drove through makeshift barriers from his truck, waving an ISIS flag, into New Orleans’ crowded French Quarter. Police officials said Jabbar, 42, may have received help from others to carry out the attack in which 15 people were killed.

About 30 other people were injured in the attack, including two police officers who were hit by Jabbar’s bullets, who were later shot dead by police. The attack occurred around 3:15 a.m. near the intersection of Canal and Bourbon Streets, a historic tourist destination known for its music and bars where crowds were celebrating the New Year. Three improvised pipe bombs were found near the tourist attraction French Quarter, one of which was in Jabbar’s truck.

US President Joe Biden condemned it as a “disgusting” act and said investigators were looking into whether there could be any connection to the Tesla truck fire outside the Trump hotel in Las Vegas. Biden said, so far, there is no evidence linking the two incidents.

Biden said of the New Orleans suspect, “The FBI also told me that just hours before the attack, he had posted video on social media indicating he was inspired by ISIS and expressed a desire to kill.” Used to be.”
