Anti-aging supplements are not the cause of heart attack alone, Dr. King clarifies the traion
India’s top cardiologist and President of Medanta, Dr. The Trehan states that there is no decisive scientific evidence connecting anti-aging supplements like glutathion to a sudden heart death. Such incidents are rare, episodic and difficult to study systematically

In short
- Sudden heart arrest is the result of underlying conditions that go inadvertently
- Intense workouts or heavy lifting, in an uncontrolled person, can trigger cardiac event
- We recommend that everyone undergo a broad cardiac screening until the age of 25 years.
The sudden death of actor Shefali Jariwala, known for his appearance in ‘Kanta Laga’ music video, has surprised everyone and everyone. On 27 June, Jariwala also took him to anti-aging supplements regularly, allegedly observing a fast at home. She fell shortly after and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
His death is a matter of public concern. The question is simple: Young, seems to be suicide due to heart failure? The defect of this time is being pinned on anti-aging supplements-Jariwala was allegedly taking regularly before the tragedy.
But Dr. According to the Naresh Trehan, the story is more complex.
No scientific link for supplements
Dr. “There is no decisive scientific evidence to connect a supplement like glutathion with a sudden heart death,” says Trehan, “Dr. Cardiac arrest is the result of the underlying conditions, most of which become uncontrolled until too late.
According to him, there are two major criminals: hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or thin cardiomyopathy; Structural heart disease that is often unknown until a serious event occurs. And the other has inherited electrical irregularities, such as the Brugada syndrome, where the heart’s electrical system is unstable and suffer from dangerous arrhythmias.
He said, “These situations can appear in young people without any prior symptoms. We have also seen cases of people who are dying in their sleep due to any electrical or structural abnormalities.”
Role of external trigger
While anti-aging supplements may not be the reason for this alone, Dr. Trehans admit that they can act as trigger, especially in persons with existing but uncontrolled weaknesses.
“External substances, including some drugs or supplements, can contribute to a heart event when combined with the underlying heart condition or physical stress,” they explain. “But such incidents are episodic and unexpected, making them extremely difficult to study in clinical settings.”
Dr. Trehans point to a disturbing tendency: In the increasing cases of coronary artery disease in people, the youth of the 20s and 30s, especially with family history of heart disease. He said, “In an uncontrolled person, including intensive workouts or heavy lifting, a heart may trigger a heart phenomenon,” he said.
When BP falls very little
In a healthy heart, a decline in blood pressure (systolic pressure falls below 100 mmHg) can compromise blood flow to the heart.
Dr. Trehan says that substances or supplements that can dilute blood vessels can increase the state of the pre -existing heart. He gives us an example: If inadvertently a person with coronary obstruction, thick heart muscle, or history of arrhythmia experiences a sudden fall in blood pressure or leaves himself physically, the result may be the arrest of the heart.
Other triggers, such as severely low blood sugar (especially during fasting), can also play a role.
Results are multi-factorial
“These incidents are rarely caused by the same factor,” Dr. The trachean insisted. “It is usually a combination of weaknesses such as genetic instincts, lifestyle, external substances, physical stress, and more that come together in an ideal storm.”
This is why sudden heart deaths are difficult to predict and stop without screening completely.
A heart horoscope?
Dr. Trehan provides a practical solution: active heart screening.
“We recommend that everyone, especially with family history of heart disease, diabetes, or unexplained medical phenomena, undergoes a comprehensive cardiac screening until the age of 25 or even before.” Such screening may include echocardiography, lipid profiles and rhythm analysis.
“Think as a cardiac horoscope, a forecast model of your personal health risks,” they say. “With today’s equipment, including genome sequencing and advanced blood tests, we can detect hidden weaknesses and take preventive steps.”
Sudden heart events can strike from anywhere, but many of them can be estimated – and with timely diagnosis and awareness.
In separation, supplements such as glutathione are unlikely to be the root cause. The real danger is hidden below the surface. A healthy lifestyle is important, but it is that what your heart can take quietly.
