Anthropic has announced its latest AI model, Cloud Opus 4.5. The company calls it its most advanced and tightly aligned AI model to date. Positioned as a cutting-edge tool for coding, agents, and a variety of computer tasks, Opus 4.5 introduces significant improvements in logic, reliability, and workflow automation. The Anthropic team is so confident in the capabilities of Opus 4.5 that it believes AI may soon take over software engineering entirely.

Cloud Opus 4.5 can code automatically for longer periods of time

Anthropic’s Adam Wolfe shared on X that Cloud Opus 4.5 can routinely code autonomously for 20 to 30 minutes. He added, “When I come back, the work is often completed—simply and idiomatically.” According to Wolfe, this was nothing less than a glimpse of the future when AI could do coding on its own without the need for human involvement. He explained, “Probably in the first half of next year: the software engineering will be completed.”

The Cloud Sonnet 4.5 model can already write more than 11,000 lines of code. With Opus 4.5, Anthropic is doubling down on coding and agentic AI, claiming it boosts enterprise productivity by providing advanced document, spreadsheet, and browser automation.

The release comes at a time of massive layoffs at various tech companies ahead of a future of more AI in the workplace.

How good is Cloud Opus 4.5?

Cloud Opus 4.5 is designed to deliver consistent, domain-aware output for professional environments and everyday office work, and is available on multiple platforms, including desktop, browser extensions, and developer tools. Anthropic claims that the model can also identify bugs and find solutions on its own.

In terms of benchmarks, Cloud Opus 4.5’s scores in agentic coding, computer usage, and novel problem solving are higher than AI models like ChatGPT 5.1 and Gemini 3 Pro. However it lags behind in visual reasoning and multilingual quizzes.
