Angad Bedi on father Bishan Singh’s legacy: I was a boy learning behind the boundary
Actors Angad Bedi and Neha Dhupia recently celebrated the birth anniversary of legendary cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi in Delhi. The event, organized in honor of the late sports icon, saw the presence of several prominent athletes.

The atmosphere was full of nostalgia as actor Angad Bedi, his wife and actress Neha Dhupia and the entire Bedi family hosted an emotional evening to honor the legendary cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi and his enduring legacy. At the special event, the couple recalled their close relationship with the late icon and expressed how his memories will always be engraved in their hearts.

The actor told India Today Digital, “This is a very personal thing for me. He was amazing as a person and I learned a lot just from watching him teach others. I was like the boy standing behind the boundary line, observing and absorbing everything.”
The former Indian cricket captain, who died in October 2023, left a huge legacy in the world of cricket. The event was attended by notable cricket personalities including Kapil Dev, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Mohammed Azharuddin and others who all came together to honor the late cricketer and his contribution to the game.

Angad Bedi revealed how everyone agreed to join the celebration after he sent just one text message.

“No one said no, and in fact, no one said they were too busy or couldn’t come. Some people couldn’t attend due to health problems, while some were abroad. This event was not a one-time thing. I plan to organize it every year choosing different cities and countries because my father Bishan Singh Bedi was loved not only in India but also internationally, so, when I meet Kapil Sir, Looking at Ajay Bhai, Virender and Yuvraj Singh, I feel this is the legacy that my father created. Even though he is not here physically, people will always remember him.”
On the other hand, Neha Shared his feelings about his late father-in-law And shared how much she enjoyed discussing her professional endeavors with him, “He was really nice to me and I used to hang out with Angad and the cricketers. He was also my friend and we called him Cricket Boy. I saw the fun, kind, pet side of him. He loved dogs very much, so we used to go to the farm to spend quality time. He was a very good cook and was crazy about cinema. He had many friends in the film industry. I’m really happy that I got to see that side of him, which completely surprised me. He is in our hearts and always will be,” he told us.
A key moment of the program was when Angad Bedi and Neha Dhupia announced their plans to revive the Bishan Singh Bedi Cricket Coaching Trust (BBCCT). Founded by Bedi, the trust has played a key role in nurturing young talent, including the iconic Yuvraj Singh, who was personally trained by Bedi.
The evening ended on a powerful note with a collective pledge to carry forward the legacy of Bishan Singh Bedi. The gathering vowed to continue their mission of nurturing young talents, ensuring that their passions flourish through the newly revamped Trust.
