Realme has teased an iPhone 16 series-like camera capture button on its upcoming smartphone.

One of the most prominent hardware changes announced with the recently launched Apple iPhone 16 series is the new camera capture button, which essentially acts as a shortcut to the camera app. The button is pressure-sensitive, triggering different functions depending on how hard it is pressed. While the relevance of this button is being debated ahead of the iPhone 16 going on sale, Android OEMs are hoping the feature becomes popular soon. At least, that’s what Realme’s latest teaser suggests.
Realme Vice President Chase Xu recently shared a video on Chinese social media website Weibo, which shows a camera capture-like button on the company’s upcoming smartphone. The video also shows scroll and zoom functionality, and it also acts as a shortcut to launch the camera app and click pictures.
Xu also shared a post on X last week revealing that Realme is working on a similar feature for its upcoming phones. “Great minds think alike,” he said.

Reacting to the video, several users on the platform speculated that the feature could come to the next Realme flagship phone, which will likely be the Realme GT 7 Pro. However, Xu responded to the rumours, saying that it is confirmed that the feature is coming to a Realme smartphone, but it will not be the GT 7 Pro.
While Apple is often blamed for bringing Android features to iOS years later, we have often seen some iPhone features being copied on Android phones as well. For example, Dynamic Islands was copied by several Android OEMs, including the Realme C53, itel S23+, and Infinix GT 10 Pro (Review).
Given that the Dynamic Island feature was never adopted on premium Android smartphones and only on mid-range phones like the Realme C53, it is also likely that a button like Camera Capture is also not meant for flagships. It could come to Realme’s next C-series phone. But we will only know this when Realme officially introduces this feature.
For camera capture on the iPhone 16 series, the button brings a lot of functionality. At the launch last week, Apple revealed that the feature allows users to frame their shots and adjust various controls such as zoom, exposure, and depth of field by simply sliding their finger across the dedicated button to create stunning photos or videos. Developers will also be able to integrate camera controls into third-party apps such as Snapchat, although this will roll out a bit later.
At the iPhone launch event, Apple showed how the camera control button works. Pressing once opens the camera app, pressing a second time captures photos, and holding the button down begins recording a video. The button can also bring up controls for zoom, exposure adjustment, or filter changes.
A light double press on the camera control button lets you change settings like exposure or depth of field. Sliding your finger across the button brings up more options like depth adjustment. The button is well integrated with the software, allowing users to switch between control functions without having to manually navigate through the camera app.
