Andrew Garfield talks about his mother’s death: I remember all her hugs, hugs
Actor Andrew Garfield shared an emotional conversation with Elmo about his late mother Lynn Garfield during a promotional video for his film We Live in Time.
Actor Andrew Garfield recently opened up about the passing of his mother Lynn Garfield during a touching conversation with beloved Muppet Elmo. While promoting their latest film, We Live in Time, a heartfelt video of their exchange was shared on the official Instagram account of Elmo and Sesame Street.
In the video, Elmo asks Garfield how he’s feeling, to which the actor candidly replies, “I’m just thinking about my mother today. She passed away not too long ago, and you You know, I miss him a lot.” Garfield’s mother died of pancreatic cancer in 2019, and he spoke about the profound impact her passing had on him.
Garfield reflected on how his grief has become a form of connection with his mother, saying, “Sadness is a kind of gift. It’s a lovely thing to feel, in a way, because it means When you miss someone you really love them and when I miss someone, when I remember my mother, I remember all the hugs I used to get from her. When I remember them I feel close to them, in a strange way, kind of way.”

The conversation also included a touching moment when Garfield revealed that Elmo was his mother’s favorite Muppet. In response, Elmo offered the actor a warm embrace, creating a comforting and emotional moment in the video.
The actor’s latest film, We Live in Time, directed by acclaimed filmmaker John Crowley, promises a poignant exploration of love, loss and the enduring power of human connection. The film was released on 18 October and also stars Florence Pugh.
