Telugu film Andhra King Taluka had a disappointing debut at the Indian box office and collected only Rs. Collected a little more than Rs. Rs 4 crore on the first day. There was a Kannada dubbed version of the film, but it barely brought any collections.
Lead actor Ram Pothineni is going through a tough time at the box office after the pandemic, with none of his films (The Warrior, Skanda and Double iSmart) being successful. That said, they all had something to show, even if it wasn’t enough in their context. However, in the case of Andhra Raja Taluka, that’s not even the case, as the film didn’t even reach half the collections of those films on the first day. The genre might have something to do with it, as those films were masala entertainers, whereas this one is more on the rom-com side, but still, the numbers are very low.
The good thing is that the reception is better than those films, which could give it some kind of trend. However, for a Telugu film to make a comeback after a low opening is something that is rarely seen.
Interestingly, the film has performed better overseas, where it has marked the best opening of Ram’s career. In the United States, including previews, it grossed over US$250K on the first day. Worldwide first day totals are Rs. Approximately Rs 7 crore.
