In her five-year acting career, Ananya Panday has become one of the most promising star kids of Bollywood. Be it playing lead roles in her films like Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan or doing cameos in other films like Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, she has been actively working. Ananya Panday recently revealed whether she would do item numbers in films, saying that you can do it in many ways.
In a new interview with Humans of Bombay, Ananya Panday was asked whether the actress would accept the offer of item numbers in her career if she gets it. Ananya countered this with a thoughtful reply, suggesting that she would take her decision based on the intention of the dance number.
The Call Me Bay star said there are several ways to number an item. Sharing her ‘do’s and don’ts’, Ananya said that if the girl is empowered, has control over her environment and is not openly promiscuous, then she will do it. However, the actress would refuse to do so if the character was not respected.
The CTRL actress further said that the idea is to look at those item numbers from another perspective and there are many ways you can play with it.
“There are many ways to be sensual, but not fetishistic or objectifying, so there is a difference and it’s about handing over control to the girl rather than the guy and vice versa. The same thing happens with men… You make them take off their shirts and they too are being objectified,” the young actress said.
Talking about her opinion on item numbers, Ananya elaborated that filmmakers and actors should be aware of the “content” they are putting in there. The star kid shared that although it can also be considered as entertainment, the problem lies in the “glorification” of negative elements.
Ananya Panday made her digital debut last month (in September) this year with Karan Johar’s film Call Me Ba. She is now prepping for Vikramaditya Motwane’s upcoming cyber-thriller, CTRL.
