L2: Impuran starring Mohanlal in the lead role has been slated to release on March 27, 2025. Next to the dramatic debut of the film, the superstar confirmed that he would reunite with the director Priyadarshan for the later 100th film.
In a special chat with Pinkvilla, Mohanlal said, “In Priyadarshan’s first film, I have played the lead role. Now, after completing one or two more films, it will be his 100th film. So, we are planning to reunite for his 100th film. The first film and 100th film and the same actor, the same actor.”

For those unknown people, director Priyadarshan started his direction, with the film Pachchkoru Mukuthi, a Malayalam-language scrubol comedy. The film, written by Priyadarshan and directed, was based on the main plot of Charles Dickens’ Play the Strange Gentleman.
Apart from Mohanlal, the film included Shankar, Maneka, MG Soman, Nedumudi Venu, CI Paul, Sukumari, Jagati Srikumar and actors in many other lead roles.
The film is considered a creed classic in Malayalam cinema and played an important role in popularizing scruball comedy in the industry since the mid -1980s. It was later remade in five different languages, including the Hindi version Hungama, who was directed by Priyadarshan himself.
On the work front, Mohanlal is ready to appear in L2: Empuraan, 2019’s sequel. The film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran once again is the second installment of a planned trilogy.
The upcoming film will detect after the events in the first installment. As a revival of the political upheaval -Stephen is set to return and restore Nedampali.
Mohanlal reiterated his role, along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Towino Thomas, Indrajit Sukumaran, Manju Warrior, Abhimanyu Singh, Erik Aboun and many more important roles.
