Dividends are paid to shareholders whose names appear in the company’s database on the record date. Following the implementation of the T+1 settlement framework, the Record Date and Ex-Date are generally the same in most cases, excluding any market holidays immediately following the Ex-Date.
Shareholders who buy the stock at least one day before the ex-date are eligible for the dividend, as the settlement takes place on the earlier date. Those who buy stock on ex-date are not eligible for dividend.
