Amitabh Bachchan sold his house, worked 18 hours a day to repay loan: Rajinikanth
Rajinikanth praised Amitabh Bachchan’s resilience, revealing that he sold his house and worked 18-hour days to pay off loans before finding success again in Mohabbatein and KBC.
Tamil superstar Rajinikanth recently praised his Vettaiyan co-actor Amitabh Bachchan for his resilience and hard work. Both the actors are coming together on screen after a gap of 33 years. They first shared the screen in the 1991 film Hum. Rajinikanth told that Amitabh had a lot of debt and to repay it he had to work for about 18 hours a day.
But Vettaiyan Audio Launch Event, The 73-year-old actor recalled that Big B, at the peak of his career, had decided to leave everything and relocate to the mountains. However, he soon came back and launched his own production company, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL). Unfortunately, the company could not succeed and pushed Amitabh into bankruptcy.
Rajinikanth told that at that time Amitabh had to sell his Juhu house and other properties in Mumbai. However, some people in the industry were happy with Amitabh’s condition.
He was a film director-producer Yash Chopra came to the rescue By offering him a role in his 2000 film Mohabbatein.
“One day, he went to Yash Chopra’s house wearing a monkey cap because he no longer had a driver because he couldn’t pay him. He asked for work from Yash. Yash immediately brought a signed check and gave it to him, but Amitji refused saying that he would take it only if he was given the work. And this is how they found love. Soon, he got KBC too,” recalled Rajinikanth.
Amitabh Bachchan tried his best to rise above the difficulties. “He did anything and everything. He did all kinds of advertisements. When the people of Bombay industry saw this, they laughed. For three years, despite numerous health problems, he worked 18 hours a day and paid off all his dues. Not only this; He bought back the old house; He bought a total of three houses in the same street. That is Amitabh Bachchan! He is now 82 and still works 10 hours a day,” praised Rajinikanth.
Amitabh Bachchan is currently hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. He was recently seen in the box office blockbuster, Kalki 2898 AD.
Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan’s Vettaiyaan will release in theaters on October 10.
