The great megastar Amitabh Bachchan is celebrating his 82nd birthday today i.e. on October 11, 2024. The legendary star has been married to Jaya Bachchan for over five decades now. As much as their relationship is major couple goals, in an earlier interview, the birthday boy once admitted that his wife is ‘stricter’ with him than with their kids.
Last year, during an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 15 that aired in 2023, Amitabh Bachchan, as usual, engaged in a fun banter with a contestant named Jaya Patel, who was a teacher by profession. She admitted that she was strict in school while being gentle at home. He further said and asked Big B about his experience with the name, Jaya mentioned his wife.
In his reaction, the Kalki 2898 AD actor said, “Well, my experience… (goes speechless)…” and revealed that his wife is also strict and generous.
“I am saved. I have to go home. I don’t want to get beaten. So, when it’s tough, it’s best to stay inside. Stay locked in your room or go out for a while. It’s great when she’s generous. She behaves like this towards her children and everyone else. He is more strict towards me. Why did you ask me this? When I watch this show with her, she will scold me. It scares me, so I don’t talk much about my personal life.
Speaking on her granddaughter Navya Nanda’s podcast What the Hell Navya, Jaya Bachchan recalled Big B’s condition before marriage. He told that he has decided to get married in October, because by then his work will be less. He then revealed that the Deewaar actor was clear that he did not want a wife who would do a 9 to 5 job.
The actress-turned-politician recalled that the only condition was to work, but not every day. Big B also advised him to choose his projects and work with the right people.
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan got married on 3 June 1973 in an intimate wedding ceremony. They had children, a daughter and a son, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan, born in 1974 and 1976 respectively.
Talking about the work front, Big B is currently seen in the reality game show KBC 16.
