American woman sentenced to life imprisonment for murder of sons "put them in the oven"

A mother of three in the US state of Atlanta has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing her two sons by “putting them in the oven and turning it on”, according to a report. law and crimeLamora Williams, 24, was convicted in the deaths of Ja’Carter Penn, 1, and Keyaunte Penn, 2, who were murdered about an hour apart. Ms Willimas has been convicted on 14 counts against her and will have to serve an additional 35 years in prison in addition to her life sentence.

The incident occurred in 2017 when Ms Willimas called emergency services to report that she had found her sons dead at home after leaving them with a carer. “When I came inside, the stove was on top of my son, on top of my youngest son’s head and my other son’s brain was on the floor,” she told 911 dispatchers.

“Can you please help me? Like, can you please tell me, like, I don’t want to be locked up because it’s not my fault. I just came home from work,” she continued.

Around the same time, the children’s father, Jamil Penn, also called 911 and reported the incident, saying he had received a video call from his wife.

“I just got a call from the mother of my child that…my…two dead children, my son, are dead in an apartment. He video called me and I saw him. I really think they’re dead.”

After police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the baby and the baby, and reported that both of them had burn marks. However, a medical examiner disagreed with the initial findings, stating that their heads were likely placed inside an inclined oven. The autopsy report stated that both boys suffered “thermal changes” due to “dry heat and changes caused by prolonged exposure to heat.”

“A significant amount of time will be required to reach this level,” it said.

Williams was indicted

According to an arrest warrant issued by the Atlanta Police Department, between midnight on October 12, 2017, and 11 p.m. the following day, Ms. Williams “knowingly and knowingly” placed her two young children in the oven and turned it on.

Meanwhile, Ms Williams has maintained her innocence, pleading not guilty. According to Ms. Williams’ mother, Brenda, her daughter struggled with mental health issues and was placed on suicide watch while in prison.
