At an event in San Francisco, AMD CEO Lisa Su announced the new AI-integrated chipsets, which will be available in the company’s Ryzen, Instinct, and Epic lineups. AMD launches new Ryzen AI Pro 300 series processors featuring the latest Zen 5 and XDNA 2 architectures. AMD also launched the Instinct MI325X accelerator. Designed to handle demanding AI workloads, these accelerators boast advanced memory capabilities. AMD says its new Instinct MI325X will go into production later this year. According to a Reuters report, shipping of the chip will begin in the first quarter of 2025. The company’s CEO Lisa Su also talked about its next-generation chipset – the MI350 series – which she says will be released in the second half of 2025. The MI400 series is planned for 2026. Su claims that the new MI325X and MI350 series will feature an increased amount of memory and will use a new architecture that will significantly improve performance compared to the older MI300X and MI250X chips.

AMD’s MI325X chip is built on the same architecture as the MI300X, which was introduced last year. As AMD continues to develop next-generation AI chips, it is expected to increase competitive pressure on Intel, which has faced challenges in establishing a cohesive AI chip strategy. In June, Su noted that AMD, like competitor Nvidia, is now introducing new product families annually. The MI300X accelerator, launched in December, is already being used by top AI models from companies like OpenAI and Meta.

AMD also announced the Epic 9005 series processors which are built on the new Zen 5 architecture. AMD partners such as Dell, Apache, Lenovo, and Supermicro announced early adoption of these CPUs.
