Amazon Prime Video has launched an innovative feature called X-Ray Recaps to help viewers watch their favorite shows quickly and without any glitches. This new tool is for users who missed part of an episode, took a break between seasons, or just want to refresh their memory without having to rewind or search online. X-Ray Recaps uses generative AI technology to provide concise, context-aware summaries that allow users to pick up the plot at any point without the risk of spoiling future episodes.

This feature is personalized based on each viewer’s progress within the show. Could. The service is an extension of Prime Video’s original X-Ray tool, providing viewers with information about trivia, cast, production details, and more. Now, with X-Ray Recaps, the experience includes customized recaps designed to keep viewers engaged without interrupting their viewing.

Prime Video vice president of product Adam Gray explained the inspiration behind the feature. “With X-Ray Recaps, we’re directly addressing a common problem streaming customers face when they forget where they left off,” Gray said. “This feature is designed to provide memorable plot points and help viewers return to their favorite stories.”

X-Ray Recaps operates through Amazon Bedrock, a generative AI service powered by Amazon SageMaker technology. Using these AI tools, the system analyzes video content, dialogue and subtitles to create spoiler-free summaries of key scenes, events and conversations. Currently, X-Ray Recaps is available in beta for Fire TV users in the US, with support for additional devices expected by the end of the year.
