Amazon has kicks its latest hardware refresh with a double headline act: the company’s first-time with a long-awaited upgrade to the kindle color and a long-awaited upgrade to its voice assistant, now called Alexa Plus. Being a Kindle fan, it is one of the most exciting news. But, before diving into the kindle, it is worth talking about Alexa. Amazon’s virtual helper has been accused of being stuck in the past for a long time, which has been struggling to live with Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri. Now, with Alexa Plus, the company promises an assistant that feels less like a robot and is more like a conversation partner.

New Alexa Plus

In the initial access, Alexa Plus already shows new “agentic” skills. Link it to your Uber, Opentable or Ticketmaster account, and you can ask it to book a ride, make dinner reservation, or even hold tickets for a gig. You can also get it later to remember the details, whether it is a friend’s birthday or your Wi-Fi password, and a smart home routine using a natural voice command.

Perhaps the most fresh change is that you do not need “speaking Alexa” to achieve things. Instead of remembering the specific phrase, you can talk carelessly, and Alexa Plus will detect it. This shift may be alone that Amazon needs to bring his assistant back to the spotlight.

Advanced assistants will come preloaded on new Eco speakers and fire TV devices, which are already available for pre-order. Some Eco models expect a ship in October. For now, Alexa Plus remains only us under our initial access program, but Amazon indicates a broad rollout in the coming year.

Kindle scribes falls color

Now, on the main act for book lovers. Amazon’s Kindle Scribb Lineup is completely refreshed, the Kindle Scribb Colorsoft with the show’s star is a model that eventually allows readers and notes to use color. This is the first time a kindle has moved beyond the classic greyscale e ink experience.

According to Amazon, the colorsoft display technique is designed to soften the eye compared to traditional LCD panels. Users will be able to highlight the text in many colors, sketch with various digital pens, or add shading to the pictures. This is not a goal of a tablet replacement, but a development of Kindle philosophy: distraction with a splash of creativity-a free reading.

All new scribe models have 11-inch paper-like screens, slimmer and lighter builds, and the papers decrease, making digital handwriting more natural. They are powered by an advanced chip and memory package, promising smooth performance that you are flipping the pages or scribbling notes.

There are three versions on the way:

  • Kindle a redisign with front light (launching later this year, $ 499.99)
  • SCRBE Colorsoft starting from $ 629.99.
  • A more affordable version without front light reached $ 429.99 in early 2026.

Amazon also says that the UK and German launch are planned in early 2026, so European readers will not have to wait very long.

AI is available by reading

On one side, hardware, kindle software itself is getting a serious glow-up. The new interface introduces quick notes with Google Drive and ONEDRIVE integration, so your documents can easily expect between the equipment. There is also an AI-powered notebook capable of finding handwritten notes and even summary.

More future is still planned reading tools. Amazon teased the Spiiler-Free Ricaps and a “Ask the book” facility, where the readers can ask AI relevant questions and get answers without breaking their reading flow. Future updates can also sink notes directly with Alexa Plus, “What to note about Chapter 3?”

Together, these announcements show that Amazon has tried to recover its shore. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft represents the most exciting shake-up for the Kindle family over the years, while Alexa Plus may finally silence critics who have long written Alexa as a glorious speaker remote.
