Xbox is expanding its cloud gaming service to Amazon Fire TV, giving gamers a new way to enjoy their favorite titles without the need for a console or PC. This partnership between Xbox and Amazon aims to broaden the reach of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate by making it available on Fire TV devices in more than 25 countries. Ashley McKissick, Corporate Vice President of Xbox Experience and Platform Engineering, announced this new collaboration, highlighting its potential to transform the gaming experience.

“At Xbox, we’re committed to bringing the joy and community of gaming to everyone. Today, we’re announcing a collaboration with Amazon that will allow Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in over 25 countries to play games directly from the Xbox app on select Fire TV devices via cloud gaming, giving people even more choices in how they play their favorite games,” McKissick said in a blog post published on the Xbox website.

With Xbox Cloud Gaming available on Fire TV, users can stream games directly to their television, eliminating the need for a traditional gaming setup. This is especially beneficial for those who don’t have an Xbox console or a high-end gaming PC.

Another key benefit of this move is the affordable price of the Fire TV Stick, which can be purchased at a fraction of the price of an Xbox console. The Fire TV Stick 4K Edition costs just US$39.99 on Amazon, making high-quality gaming accessible to more people. Additionally, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2023), launching in July, are priced at US$59.99 and US$49.99, respectively.

The partnership also emphasizes the portability of the Fire TV Stick. Users can easily move their gaming setup from room to room or take it on the road, as long as they have a stable internet connection and compatible Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller. This flexibility allows for a seamless gaming experience anytime, anywhere.

Amazon too shared the announcement in a blog post and explained how gamers no longer have to invest in a console and how gaming is now more portable than ever. The post read, “One of the biggest advantages of cloud gaming is the ability to play premium games without investing in a console system. The Fire TV Stick may be compact, but it can stream and play graphically intensive Xbox games like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, thanks to Microsoft’s cloud servers.”

“This portability also means you can easily move your cloud gaming setup from the living room TV to another room or even take it on the road. As long as you have a solid internet connection and your compatible Fire TV Stick and a compatible controller, your game library and saved progress travels with you.”

To access Xbox Cloud Gaming on Fire TV, users will need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. This subscription offers access to a massive library of games, including popular titles like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Starfield, and Forza Horizon 5. Even non-members can enjoy ‘Fortnite’ without a subscription, while those looking for wider access can join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

To play games using Fire TV, users simply need to install the app, log in with their Microsoft account, and start playing.

However, it is important to note that Xbox Cloud Gaming is not yet available in all regions. Players in countries like India will have to wait a little longer before they can take advantage of this new feature and move away from the traditional console.
