Amazon today announced four new members of its Eco -Series of Smart Home speakers designed to work with the company’s new Alexa+. It includes a new Eco dot Max, The Eco Studio and two new Eco show models in various sizes.
Starting with Eco dot Max, it has a dual-dryer design that includes a woofer and a tweeter. The new design integrated the speaker in direct device housing instead of a separate module, which doubles the internal air space for full sound. The device can also tune the sound around you and Amazon claims that it can produce the bass 3x of the 5th gene Eco dot.
Eco Studio is like a large version of Eco dot Max. It has a high tour with three full range drivers. It has support for spatial audio and dolby atomos. And it does all this in an enclosure which is 40% smaller than the original studio.
Both Eco Dot Max and Eco Studio can also be chained together for a stereo or surround sound experience. You can make up to 5 pair of each, which can be accompanied by a Fire TV stick compatible for a mekshift home theater setup.
This is followed by Eco Show 8 and Eco Show 11. They have 8-inch and 11-inch touchscreen respectively, and Amazon says it uses in-cell touch and negative liquid crystal design to reduce the layer of tearing and maximize the angle of viewing. Both units also have a 13MP camera for video calls, and Alexa can identify you even when you go on the device for custom information.
Both Eco show models have a new audio architecture, with front-faceing stereo speakers and a custom woofer. Drivers are placed at the front towards the user and placed under the display and fire audio.
Powering the new Eco device is new custom-designed chips with AI accelerator. Eco Dot Max is powered by Amazon’s new AZ3 chip, while the other three use AZ3 Pro. These new chips also improve better microphone quality, rapid overall reaction and AI performance.
Prices for Eco Dot Max are $ 100, $ 220 for Eco Studio, $ 180 for Eco Show 8, and $ 220 for Eco Show 11. All four are available for pre-order today, and American customers will get Alexa+ Early Access out of the box. Eco dot Max and Eco Studio will be available on 29 October, and Eco show models will be available on November 12.
