Amran’s blockbuster wave hurts Bloody Beggar & Brother’s business
Tamil film Amaran starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi performed very well at the box office and broke the Rs 300 crore club globally in just three weeks. With unprecedented trends and positive reception from the audience, the film emerged as the highest-grossing film of Sivakarthikeyan’s career and earned the title of blockbuster.
Additionally, it ranked second among the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2024 at the worldwide box office, behind Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT.
Amaran’s blockbuster wave had a massive impact on the business of other small Tamil films – Bloody Beggar and Brother. While the Kevin starrer black comedy grossed under Rs 10 crore in India, the Jayam Ravi and Priyanka Mohanan starrer family entertainer collected less than Rs 15 crore in India. Both films faced tremendous word-of-mouth, which sealed their fate on the opening day itself.
Bollywood witnessed the clash of titans; Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is ready to take the lead on Singham again
Bollywood releases Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again performed well after stellar opening weekends. While Kartik Aryan’s film lagged behind in the initial week, it picked up later and the gap between the total collections of both the releases narrowed.
The horror-comedy film achieved the title of superhit, becoming Kartik Aryan’s highest-grossing film by earning Rs 331 crore globally in 18 days.
On the other hand, Ajay Devgan’s mass action film could not show the expected trend for long and could collect around Rs 338 crore at the worldwide box office till the third weekend. The Rohit Shetty directorial will have to be satisfied with a semi-hit verdict given the huge production costs and A-listers attached to the project.
Lucky Baskar marks DQ Salman’s third success in Tollywood; KA reign blockbuster run
Tollywood film Lucky Bashkhar starring Dulquer Salmaan, Meenakshi Choudhary and Ayesha Khan performed tremendously at the box office. The economic crime-thriller directed by Venky Atluri joined the Rs 100 crore club globally, making DQ Salman’s first film to do so.
Although it faced major competition from Amraan, it still managed to be declared a super-hit with its unprecedented box office trend.
On the other hand, a relatively small film, KA, starring Kiran Abbavaram, emerged as a blockbuster and doubled the happiness of Telugu distributors. It grossed approximately Rs 50 crore globally, which was an incredible achievement for a small budget film. This fantasy thriller enthralled the audience with its interesting plot and mystery. The makers are now planning to release it in other languages ​​also.
Bagheera is a sigh of relief for Kannada cinema; a hit emerges
Written by Prashanth Neel, Bagheera, starring Sri Murali and Rukmini Vasanth, received a clean hit verdict in its opening weekend. The film opened with low figures but showed great trends over the weekend and attracted the audience.
Financed by Hombale Films, the superhero film grossed over Rs 29 crore globally throughout its run.
