Cole Hauser bid farewell to the Dutton universe of the hit Peacock series Yellowstone, but he hopes to continue entertaining audiences. Speaking to People magazine to promote his new collection with Lucky Brand, the actor reflected on his experience portraying Rip Wheeler for the past five years and audiences’ warm reception to the show.
“It’s been an incredible experience to see people come out and reach out over the last few weeks, their acceptance of the show and the character and what it means to them,” he said. Hauser also admitted that he would miss working with the show’s “incredible cast” after the conclusion of the fifth season.
The actor declared that educating, enlightening and entertaining the audience is “always a dream”, which he hopes to continue in the future. Although the Dutton family’s chapter ended with the series finale, the actor hasn’t stopped thinking about the possibilities.
He admitted, “I think America has spoken. They still love the show.” Added.
Although he avoided revealing anything about the finale, he did tease that it would provide a future perspective. He further teased, “Hopefully we’ll be able to continue to go into people’s living rooms and entertain them like we’ve done for the last seven years.”
During a previous interview with the outlet, Hauser teased the possibility of the Yellowstone universe expanding beyond the story of the five-season series. Calling himself “just a hired gun” and not the one deciding the show, he clarified that there is no confirmation from the makers yet. He said at the time, “It certainly would be a shame to stop something so great. I believe the numbers speak for themselves.”
“A ranching family in Montana faces off against other people encroaching on their land,” according to the Yellowstone official synopsis. The final episode of Season 5 will air Sunday, December 15 at 8PM ET/PT on Paramount Network.
