Allu Arjun, Rashmika, Fahadh were not Sukumar’s first choice for Pushpa: Report
Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil were reportedly not the original choices for their roles in Pushpa. Director Sukumar also had other actors in mind before finalizing the current cast.

The film Pushpa: The Rise, directed by Sukumar, has become a huge success in the Telugu cinema industry. However, it turns out that the lead roles played by Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil were apparently not the first choice for the film.
The producers initially approached several other actors for lead roles, but they declined the offer. According to reports, actor Mahesh Babu was the first choice for the role of Pushpa Raj, which was eventually played by Allu Arjun. Mahesh Babu reportedly turned down the role due to creative differences with the director.
Similarly, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was considered for the lead female role before Rashmika Mandanna was cast. Samantha had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. The Citadel Honey Bunny actor did not want to play a rural girl on screen after Rangasthalam, which was also directed by Sukumar.
For the role of the antagonist, which was played by Fahadh Faasil, the filmmakers first approached Vijay Sethupathi. However, he refused the role citing date issues.
Despite these changes in casting, Pushpa: The Rise was praised by audiences and critics alike for its strong performances and engaging story. The film eventually developed a cult following.
The film’s sequel – Pushpa 2: The Rule – is releasing in theaters globally on December 5. The initial premiere shows of the film are scheduled on December 4 at 9.30 pm in select theaters across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Bengaluru. The sequel will be released in theaters worldwide on December 5 in multiple languages and across multiple formats.
