The cost cut of Elon Musk is finalizing the disintegration of the US agency for international development, assigned abroad to thousands of local workers and American diplomats and civil servants, with two former top USAID officers and knowledge of a source.
On Friday, the Congress was informed that almost all the employees of the USAID are being fired by September, all its foreign offices are closed, and some tasks are absorbed in the State Department.
The latest steps by the Department of Government Efficiency of Musk will effectively leave the agency’s workforce.
“This is definitely the final conclusion,” said one of the former senior USAID officers.
US President Donald Trump and Musk started the process of closure of USAID and merging their operations with the state department in February to ensure that they are in line with Trump’s “America First” policies. The state department did not immediately respond to the request of the comment.
Former authorities and sources familiar with the source said on the condition of anonymity that the Human Resource Office of USAID told the regional bureau in a conference call that more than 10,000 effectively effective was being sorted in all of locally employed foreign nationals.
He said that American diplomats and civil servants would also be assigned to work abroad, who have been American foreign aid providers for more than 60 years.
Trump claimed without proof that the agency prevails with fraud and was run by “radical left lunetics”, while Kasturi falsely accused of being a “criminal” organization.
Thousands of USAID employees were placed on administrative leave – they received pruning notices on Friday – hundreds of contractors were fired and over 5,000 programs were abolished, disrupting global humanitarian assistance efforts on which millions of people depended on.
According to the non-Pakistani Research Service, USAID maintains missions in more than 60 countries, most of its funds go to humanitarian aid and health programs.
Top recipients included war-torn Ukraine and Democratic Republic of Congo, US Eli Jordan, and Israel-occupied West Bank and Combat-Bhihar Gaza Strip.
A summary of conference call operated by a Regional Bureau and the termination of all localized foreign nationals and American diplomats and civil servants reviewed by Reuters were confirmed.
It said that more than 600 US diplomats are second to USAID abroad, but did not provide any data for the number of US civil service members. Most are to be abolished in July, when the intention is to “stop all programmatic work”.
Summary said, “Every situation has been abolished; 100 percent of the agency is Rif’D (decrease in force),” and advised the personnel not to retain anyone and “focus on things to ensure that you are receiving the right benefits.”
