Singer Alka Yagnik’s colleagues from the Hindi music industry wished her a speedy recovery after she announced on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with a rare form of sensorineural nerve hearing loss. These well-wishers included singers Sonu Nigam, Ila Arun and Shankar Mahadevan, with whom she has worked before.

Sonu Nigam commented on Alka’s Instagram post, “I knew something wasn’t right. Will meet you when I get back. God bless you with a speedy recovery.” Sonu and Alka have worked together in many popular songs like ‘Humein Jabse Mohabbat’ (Border, 1997), ‘What Is Mobile Number’ (Haseena Maan Jaayegi, 1999), ‘Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se’ (Dhadkan, 2000), ‘Banke Tera Jogi’ (Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, 2000), ‘Sooraj Hua Maddham’ (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, 2001), and ‘Tumhi Dekho Na’ (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, 2006).

Senior singer Ila Arun wrote, “So sad to hear this. Dear Alka I saw your picture and reacted but then I read, this is heart breaking. But with prayers. And with the blessings of the best doctors of today you will be fine and soon we will hear your sweet voice. Love you always, take care.”

Meanwhile, Shankar Mahadevan, who has worked with Alka in films like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Lakshya’ and ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’, commented, “Praying for your speedy recovery Alka ji! You will be absolutely fine and do amazing as always! Lots of love and best wishes.” Shankar has worked with Alka in several films.

Actress Poonam Dhillon also wished Alka a speedy recovery. She wrote, “Lots of love and lots of prayers and blessings for you. May you get all the strength of love to recover and get back to your beautiful healthy self soon. Love you.” Earlier, Alka wrote on her Instagram handle on Tuesday, “A few weeks ago, when I stepped out of a flight, I suddenly felt that I was unable to hear anything. Having gathered some courage in the weeks following the incident, I now want to break my silence for all my friends and well-wishers who have been asking me why I am missing in action. My doctors have diagnosed it as a rare sensorineural hearing loss due to a viral attack. This sudden, massive setback has taken me completely by surprise.”

Commenting on Alka’s post, singer Aakriti Kakar wrote, “You are our lioness and our queen. The only way forward is your recovery, which will happen sooner than we imagine. We love you so much and are praying and cheering for you Alka ji.”
