Actor Akshay Oberoi, who was recently seen in ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar’, opened up what Karan Johar finally means to be a part of the cinematic universe. He expressed his desire to be a blue -eyed boy of Dharma Productions to offer him more religious films.

In a special interview with Bharat Today, Akshay shared his experience of working on ‘Sunny Sansari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. He said, “I was not a part of such a film before. Just by the fact that I am in such a film, this way expands my filmography. Usually, I am more intense and more dramatic films. I rarely get a chance to be in such a comedy, and a full-family Bollywood entertainer.”

He said, “Sunny Shakari Ki Tulsi Kumari ‘scored my filmography more than anything. There is a complete section of the audience which is probably not fully aware of my work. It will also give me a chance to come in front of them,” he said.

The actor also responded to a question, to which Karan Johar’s wish was a part of it.

“Every Karan Johar film! I wish I would have been a religion blue -eyed boy and he would put me in everything. Like other people, he is under his wing, that I will get films made for me. It will really be very good. I always want to join with them and work with them. I hope to work in a big ability in future.”

Akshay also admitted that Dharma seems like verification being a part of the film. “Yes, it does,” he said.

He further expressed that an actor’s opportunity to be in Dharma film depends on his stock. “What is more Bollywood and Hindi film industry than Karan Johar and religion? These are always people who are most sought, who get a chance to act in a religion film. The higher your stock is, the more likely you get Dharma.

“Somehow, it shows that I am seen inside the industry because I am getting a chance to live in a religion film. It seems that I jumped on the occasion because I wanted to join with the production house,” he continued.

For Akshay, it is not just about the film; This is about the perception. He said, “Our industry, our business, is all perception-based. When you are working for a company like Dharma, suddenly your image and your perception change among all. I know a lot about it, so it was exciting for me.”

The actor known to balance mainstream and independent cinema also believes that today viewers are more developed than the system. He said, “Oh, of course. I don’t think there is a star system … I think our manufacturers are not completely awake for it, but the audience is very open.”

“So many films have come and have shown you that it has nothing to do with the star cast – it has to be done with content. I don’t think our producers are still completely there. It is a risky business, a lot of money is at stake. I can’t blame anyone that we cannot go about decision making.
