Earlier this year, Mudassar Aziz brought together an impressive ensemble cast for his comedy-drama film, Khel Khel Mein. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Amy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal in lead roles and was released in theaters on August 15, 2024. But if you missed watching the film on the big screen, you’re in luck, as it is reportedly going to release on Netflix on October 9.
A recent report in DNA said that ‘Khel Khel Mein’ is all set to stream on the popular OTT platform from Wednesday, within two months of its big screen release. The publication also quoted the streaming giant as saying that an announcement was made regarding the release of the film on October 9 on Netflix’s application. For the unaware, the Mudassar Aziz directed film is the official Hindi remake of the 2016 Italian film Perfect Strangers. It competes with Stree 2 and Veda at the box office on Independence Day 2024.
Khel Khel Mein did not perform well at the box office and was declared a flop. While talking exclusively to Pinkvilla, Akshay Kumar opened up about his choice of films. He told us, “People want to watch franchise movies so I’m watching them. Whatever people say, we have to try to understand. But at the same time I will not stop doing different kind of cinema. Because sometimes I feel like I have to give the audience what I think they want.
He further said, “I think my audience would like to have it. I will give it. Whether I succeed or not; Sometimes I have succeeded, sometimes I have failed. But it doesn’t tell me to stop doing it. Christian Dior or Armani or Gucci, when they create, they don’t ask people, ‘What do you guys want next in fashion?’ They make their own stuff. They think about what the audience wants. Then give it. So, I want to do the same.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Khiladi Kumar will play a cameo role in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, followed by Sky Force, Jolly LLB 3, Housefull 5, Welcome to the Jungle, Shankara and Hera Pheri 3.
