Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan joined hands in 2007 and made the epic horror-comedy film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Since the film became a cult favourite, the two actors have decided to collaborate again on another film of the same genre. An industry insider revealed about their upcoming project that an announcement will be made on Khiladi Kumar’s birthday i.e. September 9, 2024.
A Bollywood Hungama report states that Akshay Kumar is all set to work in a film by renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan. A source close to the matter said that they are considering several ideas and finally they are going to make a great horror comedy on the lines of their film Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The source said, “They are very excited to start this successful journey.”
Furthermore, it was also revealed that the comic caper will hit the floors by December and is expected to have a “start-to-finish schedule”. The makers of De Dana Dan will be exploring a new territory of horror and comedy with this film, which is going to have a catchy title. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the film is expected to hit the big screens in 2025.
A day earlier, on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Akshay released a motion poster that hinted at an upcoming special announcement. Captioning it, he said, “Ganpati Bappa Morya! What better day than today to get a hint of something special happening? The reveal is set to happen on my birthday, stay tuned! #SpecialAnnouncement.”

Earlier this year, Priyadarshan, while speaking to Hindustan Times, had said that since he has completed his docu-series on the history of the Ram temple, he is all set to work with Akshay on his ‘most important film’, which is being produced by Ekta Kapoor. He had said, “It is a horror fantasy with humour.”
Giving more details about the project, the Indian filmmaker said that it will be a fantasy film set in the backdrop of black magic. The Dhol director also praised Kumar and said that “it is always a pleasure to work with Akshay” and added that the actor handles emotions well. Like many others, he too was waiting for a good subject to return with the actor in Khel Khel.
