So how can one successfully juggle all the different roles in her personal and professional life, including motherhood, and still maintain a strong sense of self? Here are a few tips:
View on Instagram1. Take time for yourself
While your loved ones always seem to be your top priority, experts believe that taking time for yourself every day is essential for your mental and physical health. Connect with your family and friends and ask for help to care for your baby while you take some time for yourself.
2. Say no to mom guilt
The 'perfect mom' voice in your subconscious might convince you that if you spend time with yourself, you are somehow taking away from your child. If you can draw your attention to the 10 things you did right in your day, the one imperfection you made will bother you much less.
3. Write it down
Another effective way to keep yourself updated is to write down your feelings, hopes, and dreams in a journal. Writing down your challenges, hopes, and beliefs can help you better identify your needs.
4. Channel your joy
If you have a job, career, or hobby, this is a great way to make room in your life for your personal goals. If not, find something you enjoy doing, even if it's just for a few minutes a day. In that short period of time, your brain is not being used for anything else but the things that make you happy, and it can become a daily reminder that your desires should have a place in your life.
5. It takes a village, so find your village
There are social media and WhatsApp groups for married mothers, single mothers and working mothers. There are startups for women trying to return to work after taking a break to have children, there are companies that offer work-from-home policies and there are workplaces with nurseries and qualified daycare professionals. There are also childcare facilities, after-school recreation facilities and many other options, all of which give children space to grow and parents time to meet personal goals.
