Airtel customers across India found themselves struggling to use calls and data services on Monday after entering the network in many areas. Many users took up to complain of signs and unsuccessful connections dropped on social media, some said they could not get any mobile data even after recent recharge. The disintegration left many people unable to work, stream or communicate, spewing online disappointment. For many people, the outage time was particularly inconvenient, coming during the work hours when mobile networks were often a lifeline for office calls and internet access.

According to the outage tracker dutter, the report of the issue started climbing around 4 pm, eventually over 3,500 complaints at the peak. Data showed that the problem was widespread and not limited to a city, in which users of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and other metro reflect their concerns. Most reports reduced trouble with voice services, followed by mobile internet and signal drops.

On a platform where users discussed the outage, many said they were disappointed that the calls were failing despite being in areas with good coverage in general. Some said that their sims were not showing internet access at all, while others mentioned data cuts on 4G, even though they were subscribed to 5G schemes. Some angry customers also indicated that they may consider switching to other networks if such issues continue.

A user named Gunjan Anurag, posted on X, “Hello @AIRtelIndia @AIRTEL_PRESENCE, your network is coming down in most of #DelhincR. People are unable to call and receive. What is the issue?”

Another user of Gurugram, Hemant Sharma, Post, Hi @AIRTEL_PRESENCE @AIRELINLIndia, Voice Service is below for the last 30 minutes in Gurugram, only internet is working, cannot outgo or receive incoming. What is happening??”

Another user, Kaushik Bhatti posted, “What disaster service you are providing- close it permanently. If you are not able to do it. The previous reimbursement is also pending that is promised. It has been closed again. It has been closed again. To end your connection.”

While reports and complaints are valid, this issue has not affected all users. For example, my team has three people, including me, an Airtel connection, and we have not faced a single problem.

Accepting the disruption, Airtel has also released a statement on social media. “We are currently experiencing a network outage, our team actively working to resolve the issue and restore services immediately. We apologize for inconvenienced honestly,” the company said.

Update: Some Jio and VI users have also reported network outage issues on social media. According to the dowdater, around 5 pm, VI filed more than 50 outage reports. Similarly, at its peak, Jio also filed more than 200 complaints.
