Air India said on Saturday that it had recommended flights from London Heathro Airport, which had seen operating disruption due to power outage.
From the national capital, in addition to Air India, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways also operated their prescribed flights to London Heathro (LHR).
Thousands of passengers flying for LHR, including Indian cities, were disrupted on Friday due to cancellation of flights, as operations were suspended after power outage.
Air India said in a statement on Saturday, “Our operations with London Heathro (LHR) recommended after the disintegration at the airport yesterday due to power outage.”
According to Air India, the flight AI111 was on schedule and other flights, from London, and is expected to be operated according to the schedule.
The statement said, “The flight of 21 March AI161, which was converted into Frankfurt, is expected to leave Frankfurt at 14:05 pm local time.”
An official said Air India, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic operated their flights to LHR on Saturday morning, and another Air India flight is scheduled to depart in the afternoon.
There are six daily flights associated with LHR at Delhi Airport.
The British Airways has eight flights per day between India and LHR, including three from Mumbai and two from Delhi. Virgin Atlantic has five daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore to LHR. Air India has six daily flights to LHR.
In a statement, British Airways said it was planning to operate more and more flights from LHR Heathro on Saturday, but is extremely complex to fix our size operation after such an important event.
The statement said, “We expect to run about 85 percent of our Saturday Heathro schedule, but it is likely that all travel customers will experience delays as we continue to navigate the challenges caused by Friday’s power outage at the airport.”
The X, LHR airport on Saturday stated in a series of posts that flights have resumed and “we are open and completely operational”.
The airport teams continue to do everything they can do to support passengers affected by tomorrow’s outage at an off airport substation.
