AI is the trend of the season and laptop manufacturers are increasingly launching their “AI-ready” laptops. Dell is joining this party with its new laptops. The company recently launched new variants of the Inspiron 14 Plus and XPS 13 in India, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X series processors. While the Inspiron 14 Plus uses the Snapdragon X1 Plus, the XPS 13 uses the X1 Elite. Both chips also have a dedicated NPU for AI computing.

Inside both laptops is the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU that allows the machine to process all AI related loads locally. Along with this, the series also comes with Microsoft’s own Copilot+ feature, which, according to Dell, will help content creators, students, and professionals do their work more efficiently and faster.

Speaking at the launch, Pujan Chaddah, Director, Product Marketing at Dell India, told India Today Tech that the new Dell XPS 13 and Dell Inspiron 14 Plus are not just for one segment but are meant to help content creators, students and professionals.

“These machines cater to the entire spectrum where PCs are used. This refresh cycle is aimed at improving customer experience by replacing older PCs bought during the COVID-19 period. The new machines are future-ready with NPU,” he added. “The addition of NPU means that complex AI workloads can be handled locally, reducing latency and increasing productivity.”

Both laptops have a feature called Co-Creator, which is an AI tool. It will allow users to create AI-generated images using prompts as well as brushstrokes. It also has Live Caption that can translate live or pre-recorded audio from 44 languages to English. Additionally, the devices come with new Windows Studio effects.

Both laptops have similar features but are targeted at different kinds of users. “Our flagship XPS 13 is equipped with the latest technology like OLED display and is designed for users who demand high productivity. On the other hand, the Inspiron 14 Plus is designed for content creation and everyday use, enhancing productivity for users like students,” he said.

The new Inspiron 14 Plus starts at Rs 115,590 in India while the XPS 13 is priced at Rs 1,39,990. Chadha told India Today Tech that the Inspiron 14 Plus and XPS 13 use lightweight materials such as recycled aluminium and plastic, ensuring portability without compromising on strength and stability.
