spoilers ahead

The finale of Mirzapur 2 shocked the audience with the deaths of important characters, narrow escapes and changing loyalties in the fierce battle for the ‘throne’ of Mirzapur.

It starts with Maqbool, Kaleen Bhaiya’s loyal aide, holding Bauji (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) at gunpoint, but Beena (Rasika Dugal) does so to take brutal revenge for her exploitation. Now, whether Maqbool will join hands with Guddu Bhaiya or help Beena in regaining the throne of Mirzapur for her son remains to be seen.

The climax also showed the downfall of Munna Bhaiya (played by Divyendu Sharma). Munna’s lust for power against his father Kaleen Bhaiya under the influence of Raja blinded him from the threat coming from Guddu Bhaiya and his sister Golu (Shweta Tripathi). Instead, he planned to kill Kaleen Bhaiya, but later realised that his father intended to make him the ‘king’ of Mirzapur. However, Munna Bhaiya realised this too late.

In the final shootout, Guddu and Golu attacked Kaleen Bhaiya and Munna Bhaiya, resulting in Munna’s death. However, Kaleen Bhaiya managed to escape and save his life with the help of Sharad Shukla, who had entered as his enemy in the second season. But why did Sharad (Anjum Sharma) save his enemy? Why did he not intervene in the bloody fight between Guddu, Golu, Kaleen and Munna and why did he spare Guddu, who killed his father? What are his real intentions? Why did he keep changing his loyalty? We hope the makers of Mirzapur 3 will answer these questions in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Guddu Bhaiya claims the throne of Mirzapur. But, isn’t Golu also a worthy contender for the powerful ‘gaddi’? Will she not fight for the throne?

At the same time, a shootout takes place between Dadda (Lilliput), Bharat (Vijay Varma), Shatrughan (Vijay Varma) and Mama (Srikanth Varma), resulting in the deaths of Mama and Bharat. However, it is revealed in a post-credits scene that it was Dadda’s elder son Shatrughan who died in the shootout, not Bharat (younger), and that he assumed Shatrughan’s identity to avenge his brother’s death from Golu, whom he thought was in love with him, but later discovers her true intentions.

Amidst the shootout, Guddu’s law-abiding father, Ramakant Pandit (Rajesh Tailang), kills police officer RS Maurya (Amit Sial) to protect his son. While he wants to surrender after killing a police officer, his future is uncertain. Will he be able to become the same person he fought against in the first two seasons of the show or stick to his ideals will be revealed on July 5 when the third season starts streaming on Prime Video.

Another unanswered question is the identity of Robin, played by Priyanshu Painyuli. We got a glimpse of him in the Mirzapur 3 trailer. Apart from being Guddu’s sister’s boyfriend, why is he close to the Pandits? Does he have some ulterior motives? Nobody comes to Mirzapur without any purpose.

Mirzapur is one of the few Indian web shows that are loved immensely. Director and executive producer Gurmeet Singh said in a statement, “The first two seasons of Mirzapur proved to be a game-changer for the crime thriller genre in the Indian streaming space. With Mirzapur 3, we aim to maintain this momentum and take the narrative to new heights with a fresh plot that will explore new aspects and dimensions of each character’s life.”

Whether the makers will be able to keep their promise will be known soon.
