Humane AI Pins will begin shipping in March 2024

Things aren’t looking too good for Humane AI. The company has now warned users to “immediately” stop using its AI Pin Charger due to safety concerns. This urgent notice comes just days after reports surfaced about the company’s attempts to sell itself. Humane AI has issued a precautionary notice asking users to immediately stop using and charging its charging case accessory due to a potential fire safety risk. The company, which recently attempted to sell itself, identified an issue with some battery cells supplied by a third-party vendor.

This issue came to light following a report of a charging issue when using a third-party USB-C cable and power source. Upon investigation, Humane AI found that this vendor’s battery cells no longer meet their quality standards. This raises concerns that these specific battery cells may pose a fire hazard. In response, Humane AI immediately disqualified the battery supplier and is now working to find a new vendor to ensure their high-quality standards are upheld.

The identified issue is specific to certain battery cells in the charge case accessory and does not affect the hardware design of the accessory. Additionally, Humane AI clarified that its other products, including the AI Pin, Battery Booster, and Charge Pad, are not affected by this issue. These products do not contain batteries or components from an unqualified vendor and are safe for continued use.
Humane AI emphasizes that customer safety is their top priority. The company ensures that all of its products, including the AI Pin and its accessories, are designed with safety in mind and have undergone rigorous testing to meet US and international safety standards.

To compensate for the inconvenience caused by this issue, Humane AI is offering affected customers an additional two months of Humane subscription free. The company assured users that they are committed to their safety and satisfaction and will provide further information once the investigation is complete.

This precautionary measure underscores the importance of quality control and safety in product manufacturing. Although this situation may cause some inconvenience to users, Humane AI’s proactive approach and transparent communication aims to maintain trust and prioritize customer safety.

Humane AI’s request for users to stop using their charging case accessory is a precautionary step to address a potential fire safety risk associated with certain battery cells from a third-party vendor. The company is taking immediate action to resolve the issue and ensure the continued safety and satisfaction of its customers.
